Since Marconi first sparked the air, radio has been the backbone of community dialog and involvement. The ultimate goal of any community radio station is to broadcast a full range of locally-produced material. Monarch Radio, a project of the Monarch Dunes Media Club, is committed to that goal. In 2014, we received the approval from the FCC to begin development of a low-power radio station to broadcast from studios located at the Monarch Club at Trilogy-Monarch Dunes, Nipomo, CA.
MONARCH RADIO COVERAGE
Estimates of Monarch Radio's signal coverage include Nipomo, Santa Maria and Arroyo Grande. That's a potential audience reach of over 51,000 households.
Our shared airtime arrangement enables us to broadcast 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 7 days per week during the coveted morning breakfast and commute listening slots.
GET INVOLVED
Do you think you have what it takes to unveil a story behind the microphone? Interested in serving your own community through your love of music or broadcast locally-produced events? Enjoy having a chance to educate those in your neighborhood on big issues?
As a non-commercial radio station we strive to serve our host communities by engaging volunteers , providing community based information, education opportunities, and responding to community needs.
Get a chance to announce upcoming events, speak your voice on big issues and celebrate events that are the heart of your community. No experience is necessary. Just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to try new things. Sometimes you'll find yourself outside your comfort zone, but the satisfaction of doing something new that you can be proud of later is a reward in itself.
EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM
One of Monarch Radio's big advantage to the community is providing vital communication during an emergency, such as an earthquake, flood, fire, or environmental disaster.
Monarch Radio is required in its license to implement an Emergency Alert System, or EAS. EAS is a national public warning system to re-broadcast emergency information provided by local, state and federal officials.
During an emergency, local officials could activate the EAS to provide emergency information and actions necessary to protect you and your family. Because cell coverage and the Internet may not be available, it is essential to have a battery-powered FM radio. Your car radio can be an effective way for you to stay tuned to important announcements.
